DINGLE PENINSULA: The highway curves back inland on its way back to Dingle (most traffic goes around the Peninsula clockwise, and it's smart to imitate it on this narrow road). A short side trip takes you to the finest and best preserved of the Medieval stone structures, the Gallarus Oratory, built roughly 1200 years ago and long used by monks living in isolation here. A short film introduces visitors to the area and is well worth watching.
