DINGLE PENINSULA: As you drive around the Peninsula you encounter various prehistoric stone buildings like the stone fort at Dunbeg (Dún Beag), overlooking the sea. The date of its construction is unknown, but radiocarbon dating suggests it was occupied in the 8th or 9th centuries. Most of the spots along the drive around the Peninsula charge a small entry fee--nothing ruinous, but be prepared for it.
